About The Group
This group is for members who wish to develop their portrait skills regardless of ability and past experience. There is no tuition but support and advice is always on offer from experienced members of the group.
Every week there is a different sitter, usually a volunteer from the group or a friend of a member. Last year’s programme included a Nonagenarian (who has promised to come back when he is 100!) teenage twins, a mother and baby, a Scout leader in uniform and a lady in 1920’s flapper costume! Every face presents a new challenge and wrinkles, beards, tattoos, hats etc are very much appreciated. We have even had sitters serenading us on the guitar or piano!
All sitters whether members or from the general public are paid for their sessions
Members work in a variety of mediums to suit themselves: popular mediums include oil paint, acrylic, graphite, pastel, coloured pencils but anything goes! There are tables to work on or members who prefer to stand bring their own easels. No materials are provided.
During the refreshment break and at the end of the session there is an opportunity to view and discuss everyone’s work and working methods.
