​I am a self-taught artist who has particularly delighted in exploring my creative side throughout my life as a hobby, and even more since I have retired. About 2-3 years ago I was painting landscapes but this last year I have focused on portrait work with an aim to improving my skills and achieving the artistic expression I am looking for. I work mainly in oil and cold wax and graphite pencil but also have tried pen work. My aim with portraits is to achieve a reasonable likeness but more importantly, to represent 'life' with a lively, loose painting, and facial expressions that tell us more about the subject, their mood and what may be on their mind!
