Born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. He studied Fine Art at Newcastle University, where he began to paint landscape/seascape on the spot-a practice he still continues. Bruce is in his 30th year as a member of Huddersfield Art Society having joined after winning the Hamer Award in 1991. His other memberships include the Royal Society of Marine Artists (elected Full Member 2007, Hon Treasurer 2014-2019) His work is in many private collections in the UK and in 14 other countries, to date.
