On Saturday 28th March a number of us had an interesting visit to Kevin Threlfall's Gallery and Studio in Marsden. Kevin is an intuitive, abstract painter working mainly in oils now, although he has explored various different media in the past. He is inspired by local moorland and his paintings evoke atmospheric, moody, reflective landscapes from his experience of walks locally.
Kevin demonstrated some of his techniques, which, in many ways are quite difficult to describe as he works intuitively and often over many days or even months as he builds layers and depth in his landscapes. It was really lovely to see a local artist in his own studio and gallery, where he also invites other artists to show their work.
Kevin's next exhibition is with the 'Yorkshire Colourists' group at the Nowhere Gallery in Holmfirth (8, Norridge Bottom, Holmfirth, HD9 7BB from 29th March to 31st May 2026.
