Saturday 12th October - Loosening Up Your Watercolour Painting with Moira Spencer
Have you been using watercolours for a long time but now you want to take a looser approach but finding it difficult to break old habits?
Do you not use your watercolours because you feel frustrated trying to control them?
Do you want to learn more about how watercolours behave?
Moira Spencer is an experienced art tutor who will use this seemingly simple task and some easy exercises to help you loosen up your watercolour work and learn more about how to get the best out of your watercolours. You may prefer doing landscapes or still life or want to try portraits, but these exercises with the image of the hare will help you 'play' and explore your brushwork and timing of action when applying watercolour paint!
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice Moira's approach to loosening up their technique, gain insights into the significance of tonal values, and explore the use of colour and how to work from reference material. Additionally, Moira will share the psychological aspects of painting loosely and provide practical tips for crafting a vibrant, loose-style animal painting, from the initial sketch to the finished piece, without overworking the details.
Below is the hare reference photo that you need to bring with you (either print it out or save onto your phone or tablet.)
There is also an equipment list.
This session is open to all, but I would be really grateful if you could let me know you are coming so we can make sure we have enough tables for everyone. Email me at [email protected].
